Total return and annualized performance for any stock position.
Total return includes both price appreciation and dividends received. A stock that went from $45 to $63.50 over 3 years has an 41.1% price return and ~13.8% CAGR — but if it also paid $3 in dividends, your actual total return is higher.
Always include dividends when evaluating long-term stock performance. For high-dividend stocks, the dividend yield can contribute significantly to total return even with modest price appreciation.
